Colon cancer, or colorectal cancer is one those diseases that does not display overt symptoms, thus colon cancer info is important.  In other words, it is an asymptomatic disease thus it is imperative for one to self diagnose it at an early stage.

The earlier the disease is detected, the better the chance for a treatment. Studies have shown that early detection and treatment ensure a complete cure in most cases.

There are now a number of new screening methods available to the physician or the oncologist which, although, not a completely reliable one, aids in the detection of colon cancer.  These range from stool tests to reveal hidden blood, colonoscopy which can look at the entire colon, flexible sigmoidoscopy, which screens the lower colon and the rectum for abnormalities. These tests are considered expensive by some, but it allows the physician to look at the inside the colon, completely to discover hemorrhoids, fibrosis, or inflamed tissues, ulcers or abnormal growth. Now, a new form of virtual colonoscopy allows a look inside the colon without having to use the earlier techniques, which involved invasion of the body.  Further, in order to make it even easier and faster, a lot of research is being done using a combination of technology, and medical advances such as genetics, DNA research to forecast colon cancer info well in advance.
 
There is evidence that the environment, lifestyle, diets, may be triggers for the onset of this disease.
